Johanna taught my daughters classical ballet for 15+ years which I am eternally grateful for....giving them not only grace, but also an appreciation for classical music. What a joy for me now to read my dear friend Johanna's life story! Blessings to you for a job well done! This lovely story has such a happy ending...for anyone interested in the ballet or history, and life's successes it's a must read. Thank you Johanna Sepe!
I'd like to have a stern word with the editor of this book. Having said that, it's an interesting read once you realize it's not set during WWII, but after. I was hoping for a WWII setting. It is actually a memoir. The author carried around a deep secret for many years while performing as a ballerina, well known in Europe in the 50s and 60s.
What a treat it was to read the life story of my dear friend Johanna. I met Johanna during the good part of her life so I never knew what she had endured before. If you want to know what perseverance, strength of character and overcoming adversity is all about then this is the story you must read.
Loved this book and amazed at the effects of war on children during the time period. Memoirs are my favorites and this one did not disappoint!
Johanna Sepe writes a lovely memoir! The story moves quickly covering many highs and lows. She is a true survivor many times over. You’ll discover how dance and a beautiful love are her ultimate savior. Congratulations on a beautifully writing book!

An amazing story about a life of bravery and determination.
I was captivated by Johanna Sepe's memoir. My four daughters took ballet with Mrs. Sepe for seventeen years, so I was fortunate to watch this beautiful ballerina share her knowledge with others. Every person has a story to tell, but this story is incredible, unique, sad and beautiful. It is fascinating to learn of the war years in Holland, and what a terrifying ordeal Johanna had to undergo as such a young child. In the book she often says how grateful she is to have discovered dance for its ability to rescue her in so many ways. We, in Somers, New York, were the beneficiaries of Johanna's journey which led to her founding her ballet school. As I was reading the book, I could actually hear Johanna speaking. Her voice most definitely shines through in the words on the page. I have beautiful memories of the incredible rehearsals and recitals. I am so happy to have found this book, to understand this elegant woman who was a part of my life for so many years. Read the book! You will not be sorry.
