This book spends the first 1/4 of it giving a very detailed and interesting history of ford tractors though the time where ford was sold off and changed names. This part of the book is very interesting but it doesn't help much for anybody looking to fix or restore a ford tractor. Also even though it states that it is for tractors 1939-1962 90% of the technical information only applies to the N series tractors. If you have a Hundred series or an 01 series tractor this book is practically useless for learning much. I did pick up a few things and it was an interesting read but for someone who is looking to restore or just work on a tractor this book doesn't help very much. What information it does provide is short and not specific enough to be of any help. If you are looking to just learn more about ford tractors and their history this is a fun book to read. However the title is terribly misleading and it has nothing in it that will be the " ultimate guide for rebuilding and restoring N-series and later tractors". The information in the book can be covered in a web article in about 20 mins. Just google what you need. Even though it was a good book to read because of the misleading title and short chapters I am giving it 2 stars.
Great book for restorers. Bought it for maintenance information. It has some maintenance info. but is written, more for a restorer.
Mostly a novel, more than a now to repair a Ford Tractor.
I work on computers for a living and when I pick up "A Guide for Dummies" book about computers I shake my head in disbelief that anyone needs such simple information. I do my own wrenching around the house, so when I read the glowing reports about this book, I thought it must have some value. I won't go so far as to say I hate it, but I can get this kind of information off the Net. It ranks right there with the Dummies in my mind.I bought the Kindle version, so I don't know what size some of the pictures might be in the paper version, but they are worthless in the electronic version. If I can get my money back I will.

Nothing of any interest to someone actually DOING a restoration. Lame, generic info that anybody with a toolbox knows.
I am not new to old FORD's so i caught some discrepancies ,but nothing of a problematic nature AND in fact i learned more little ditties i didnt know . So , overall a good buy . i have it on computer thru KINDLE for windows and works very well . this may actually convince me to buy KINDLE 3G . When i say "discrepancies" i should also add ; SO MUCH of FORD history is from word of mouth that often FORD had made changes and then back and forth depending on suppliers and markets or even sold stock that many things differ in FORD history . The procedure pictures are EXCELLENT quality . Enough info given to rebuild , but still a good mechanic's manual from I&T or FORD wood be needed as well. i hope to find THEM on KINDLE someday too . NOW on computer ,FORD TRACTOR , KINDLE program is FULL COLOR and very nice just to "flip thru" for enjoyment. buy it , you'll like it !
Don't think you can buy this one book and restore that old tractor that's been sitting in the feild next door for 20 years. No one book can do that. This is a good starter book if you are interested in Ford tractors and think you want to take one on as a project.
